DONE DEAL: The kings have completed the signature of an American basketball power forward for a fee worth…

Kings Named One of the Favorites to Land Young Center From Knicks

The Sacramento Kings have finally turned their season around after a poor start, but they are still expected to be active ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. After starting the season off 13-18 and firing head coach Mike Brown, the Kings have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA over the past month. Under interim head coach Doug Christie, Sacramento has won eight of their last ten games and currently hold a 21-20 record, which has them sitting ninth in the Western Conference standings. Sacramento has looked like a completely different team with Christie manning the sidelines and they have officially climbed their way back into the playoff race. Their star trio of Domantas Sabonis, De’Aaron Fox and DeMar DeRozan have finally figured things out and they have also seen a ton of production from the rest of their roster. While the Kings have turned their season around, they are still expected to try and upgrade their roster ahead of the trade deadline. They have been linked to many players such as Cameron Johnson and John Collins, but Jericho Sims of the New York Knicks has also been added to their list of targets.

According to Bovada, the Kings have the fourth-best odds (+600) to land Sims from the Knicks. The Brooklyn Nets are the favorite (+155) to land him, followed by the Portland Trail Blazers (+325) and New Orleans Pelicans (+325).

With the Kings in desperate need of a backup center, Sims would be the perfect addition. The 26-year-old has not seen much playing time during his four seasons in New York, and it is clear that they are trying to trade him before the deadline. This season, Sims is averaging 1.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 62.8% from the field. He is a solid inside scorer and a great rebounder who would fit well behind Sabonis in the rotation. He would also be a cheap option for the Kings so that they could save additional assets to pull off a larger move to help them make a deep playoff run this season.
