League One club releases ‘disappointed’ statement as Coventry City’s rivals confirm key move
Coventry City’s Championship rivals Luton have confirmed the appointment of Matt Bloomfield as their new manager on a three-and-a-half-year deal. The 40-year-old takes the reins at Kenilworth Road following the departure of Rob Edwards last week.
Bloomfield, who joins from League One promotion hopefuls Wycombe, will be accompanied by assistant Richard Thomas, first-team coach Lee Harrison and analyst Ben Cirne. The seasoned former player, with more than 500 games for Wycombe under his belt, made his managerial return to Adams Park in 2023 after leading Colchester.
With Luton sitting in 20th place in the Championship, just two points above the drop zone, Bloomfield’s first game with the Hatters is lined up against Preston on Saturday.
